Please review the following before requesting deletion:

• Complete pending transactions: make sure any in-progress orders are completed or cancelled first.
• Withdraw any remaining balance: transfer or withdraw any funds or reward points you want to keep.
• Download your transaction history: export any records you may need for tax or personal reference — they cannot be recovered afterwards.
• Deletion is permanent: once deleted, your account cannot be restored. You would need to register again to use Rates.lk.

Permanently deleted

When your deletion request is processed, we permanently remove:

• Personal information — your name, email, and phone number
• Account credentials and login information
• Transaction history and order records held for your account
• Account settings, preferences, and saved recipients and bank accounts
• KYC verification documents you uploaded
• All other personal data linked to your account

Retained for legal compliance

Some records must be kept to meet Sri Lankan financial and tax regulations. These are stored securely, used only for compliance, and deleted once the required period ends:

• Transaction records required by law (minimum 5 years)
• Financial records needed for tax and audit purposes
• Any data we are legally obliged to retain for ongoing obligations

Retained records are not used for any other purpose and are permanently deleted after the legally required retention period.

To request deletion of your Rates.lk account and associated data, contact us through either channel below. For your security, we may ask you to verify your identity before processing the request.

• WhatsApp (fastest): Message us at +94 70 414 4444 with your registered email address and, optionally, a reason for leaving.
• Email: Write to desk@rates.lk with the subject "Account Deletion Request — Rates.lk", including your registered email address and account username (if any).

Identity verification: to protect your account from unauthorised deletion, we may ask you to confirm a few details before we proceed.

• Day 0 — request submitted: you send your deletion request via WhatsApp or email.
• 1–3 business days — verification: we verify your identity and review the request.
• Within 7 days — deletion complete: your account and eligible data are permanently deleted, and we email you a confirmation.

If you do not want to delete your whole account but would like to remove specific data, you have two options:

• Update your information: change or remove certain personal details yourself from your account settings while keeping your account active.
• Request partial data deletion: contact us at desk@rates.lk or +94 70 414 4444 to request deletion of specific data types without closing your account.
